It was a very time consuming and bizarre experience with Home Depot on 900 Terminal Ave, Vancouver, BC V6A 4G4. We ordered a custom built bifold closet door there. For starters three of their computers had difficulties to place an order; finally, almost a half an hour later the Home Depot employee managed to ring it through.
Wait time was 2 – 3 weeks. We did a massive mistake not inspect the brand new custom built door at the order pickup desk. A sticker on the door said Made in Canada by Masonite Entry Door Corporation and the door was all wrapped in plastic.
After arranging entrance to the job site through the land lord and tenant of the unit, picking up some more supplies for the closet and taking the door to the job site we discovered that our custom built bifold closet door had a crack and it was warped. When your door has a damage like that you throw it out and buy a new one.
Took the door back to the store and asked for money back as well as to reimburse us for the time and gas we had to waste. The store clerk told us that Home Depot does not pay for our time. Asked for the manager who happened to be Department Supervisor Daniel Shibu (ph.604 608 1423 101/102) who said that we had to feel graceful that the store returned us money for the damaged door. Asked for Senior Manager Kevin Vandenbosch who of course was at the meeting. That’s what everybody normally says, nothing new.
On average we used to spend from $12,000 up to $15,000 at the Home Depot. They lost our business for sure.
If you buy stuff there make sure that the product is not damaged or broken.
